If you run an ambient/downtempo/chill reviews site and you're not listed here just send me a note and I'll help spread the word.

Artists please note: AmbientMusicGuide.com does not maintain a links page devoted to artist and record label websites. If you are looking for exposure in this way, there are many good directories already on the web - just try a Google search.

After Enigma: A Guide To Nu Ambient Music - An interesting and beautifully designed reviews site that leans towards commercially-orientated downtempo fare in the style of Delerium, Deep Forest, etc.

All Music Guide - This is one of the biggest music resources on the net, but it should be approached with caution if you value independent opinions. Some artists are done justice with reviews by well-informed and credible writers, while other entries are hopelessy compromised with "reviews" obviously written by record companies, retailers or PR people.

Ambience For The Masses - Excellent archive of artist profiles and reviews. All key players in the electronic ambient field are covered.

Ambient Visions - Features lightweight but still informative reviews of new releases. Coverage includes semi-obscure North American releases not reviewed anywhere else.

Epsilon - One of the web's oldest ambient music information archives.

EthnoTechno.com - Excellent reviews of a wide rage of downtempo and global electronica with non-Western or exotic flavours. Brilliant web design too.

Instinct Ambient - An excellent and thoroughly researched discography of the now-defunct American label Instinct Ambient, one of the great post-rave ambient techno/trance labels of the 1990's.

Morpheus Music - Contains reviews and interviews covering psy-ambient, enthno beats, exotic dub, and dark and environmental ambient ala Steve Roach and Robert Rich.

Psy Reviews - Perceptive and sometimes hilarious reviews of releases from the global psychedelic trance scene including downtempo sounds on the ambient trance/entho-ambient/dub axis. Check out the merchandise section selling T-shirts "for people who like to take the piss at parties".

Psybient - Eye-catching site with music reviews in Polish by by writer Radoslaw Bialek, with a focus on goa and psytrance as well as "psybient" and ambient. Radoslaw told me the layout of AmbientMusicGuide.com was one of the inspirations for his own site. Yay!

Silent Records - Run by a devoted fan, this is an enlightening guide to the defunct San Francisco based label that helped define the first wave of new-school ambient music to come out of rave and techno in the 1990's. Includes an archive of the actual Silent Records website circa 1996.

Wind & Wire - Quality e-zine featuring reviews on a broad range of contemporary instrumental music.
